Dear Colleagues, 

I should like to take the opportunity of this first FMRQ Express of the year to welcome all the R1s who have just started their residency in, let’s face it, the very unusual and uncertain climate of the pandemic, as well as to all you others who will be on the front line again this year, making your professional contribution to the healthcare system in your respective disciplines.

In this edition of Le Spécialiste (in French only), the FMSQ reports on COVID-19 and its impact in healthcare sites, and on the Institut de la pertinence (“Medical Act Relevance Institute,” or IPAM), set up following the most recent labour negotiations. It also covers continuing professional development and presents the FMSQ’s new brand image.

This edition (in French only), is mainly about behavioral disorders in children. The Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ) gives you access to the electronic version of its monthly publication. Family medicine residents may access it without charge via the App Store or Google Play. A tablet version is also available,

Resident doctors in other specialties may access the electronic versions of current and previous issues by visiting the FMOQ website.

The CISSS des Laurentides is seeking a generalist neurologist to join its team of medical specialists at Hôpital de Saint-Eustache. Opportunity to do electrophysiology (EEG, EMGs), hospital and emergency consultations, participating in specialized clinics in Saint-Jérôme (multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cognitive disorders, spasticity clinic).

A position in cardiology is also available at Hôpital de Saint-Eustache.

Saint-Jérôme’s regional hospital and Hôpital de Saint-Eustache are both looking for a respirologist.

We provide two apartments to be shared in Montreal containing three rooms each. These apartments are exclusively for residents.  To be eligible, your rotation must be mandatory and take place more than 50 km away from your usual training site.

All medical residents have to take part in an ALDO-Quebec training session at any time during their training to be eligible for their permit from the CMQ.
