Launch of Media Campaign on Resident Doctors’ Essential Role

Un médecin touche les ganglions d'une jeune patiente.

As we mentioned in the INFO NEGO, the FMRQ is launching a media campaign aimed at spotlighting resident doctors’ significant contribution to the healthcare received by patients in all regions of Quebec. Spread over several weeks, this campaign kicked off on Saturday, November 2, in two dailies, Le Devoir and Le Journal de Québec, with a full-page advertisement, to be followed by more detailed content over the coming weeks.

We have chosen not to start by making any direct link with our current collective agreement negotiations, so as not to hold the negotiations in the public arena. But, since the government’s representatives at the negotiating table still appear not to grasp the scope of the work you perform on a daily basis, it may be that publicly highlighting the importance of that work will guide them to a better appreciation of the importance of your role. We hope this will help put a stop to their derogatory statements, which include claiming that you are merely “learners who are lucky enough to be receiving salaries”!
